Izwi survey & insights platform

Last updated: July 2026

1. Who we are

Izwi ("we", "us", "our") is a survey and insights platform that helps organisations in Zimbabwe collect feedback from their customers and communities, primarily through WhatsApp and through web-based forms. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We process personal information in accordance with Zimbabwe's Cyber and Data Protection Act [Chapter 12:07].

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Contact details — your mobile phone number and, on WhatsApp, the profile name associated with your account.
  • Profile information you choose to share — such as your name, age or date of birth, gender, city, region, and country, collected only through questions you answer voluntarily.
  • Survey responses — the answers you submit to surveys, whether via WhatsApp or a public web form.
  • Consent choices — whether you have agreed to your information being used for profiling and analysis.

Information collected automatically

  • Message records — technical logs of messages sent and received on our WhatsApp number (delivery status, timestamps), retained on a rolling 30-day basis.
  • Reward points — a record of points you earn for completing surveys, where a survey offers rewards.

We do not collect payment card details, government identity numbers, or login credentials from survey respondents.

3. How we use your information

  • To deliver surveys to you and record your responses.
  • To produce insights and reports for the organisation that commissioned the survey.
  • To operate reward programmes (tracking and communicating the points you earn).
  • To send you service messages related to a survey you are taking part in (for example, a thank-you or confirmation message).
  • To keep our service secure, prevent abuse, and troubleshoot delivery problems.

4. Consent

Where we collect demographic or profile information, we ask for your explicit consent first, and we record your choice. If you do not give consent, you can still decline or ignore our messages at any time. You may withdraw your consent whenever you wish by contacting us using the details below, and we will stop using your information for profiling and analysis.

5. Who we share information with

  • Survey commissioners — the organisation that commissioned a survey receives the responses to that survey and related insights.
  • Meta Platforms (WhatsApp) — messages you exchange with us over WhatsApp are transmitted through the WhatsApp Business Platform and are subject to WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy.
  • Service providers — trusted providers that host our systems or help us analyse consented, survey-level data. They may only use the information to provide services to us.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for third-party advertising.

6. How long we keep information

  • Technical WhatsApp message logs are automatically deleted after approximately 30 days.
  • Survey responses and profile information are kept for as long as needed for the purposes above, after which they are deleted or anonymised.
  • You may request deletion of your personal information at any time (see "Your rights").

7. Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, access controls, and restricting access to authorised personnel. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we work to protect your data and to respond promptly to any incident.

8. Your rights

Under the Cyber and Data Protection Act, you have the right to:

  • ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy;
  • ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your personal information;
  • withdraw consent you previously gave;
  • object to processing of your information.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may lodge a complaint with Zimbabwe's data protection authority (POTRAZ).

9. Children

Our surveys are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Cookies

Our public survey pages use only the cookies strictly necessary for the form to work (such as a security token that protects the form against misuse). We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies on our public pages.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top shows when it last changed. Significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
